Rachel has moved away to a small village outside of London with her teenage daughter Vivian. Escaping from the mysterious past they both meet a young boy named Alex Who seems to have secrets of his own. Neither mother nor daughter know of of the others relationship with Alex. Vivian has demons of her own and she struggles with teenage friendships. Why did they mysteriously leave London? This book starts out very slow but hang in there it picks up the pace to a very suspenseful and thrilling end. This is the first book in a long time to grab and hold my attention so quickly! The character development and the telling of this story from the two varied perspectives with flashbacks tied in was wonderful. The building of tension at times was almost visceral, but never quite unsettling, and the intimate look into the psychology of borderline personality disorder and sociopathy definitely kept me flipping pages. Looking forward to more from Sarah!
